American Goat Federation

I encourage all NCMGA members and goat producers to check out the AGF at AmericanGoatFederation.org and sign up for their free quarterly e-newsletter.

AGF is an organization for all things goat, including ALL goat breeds, health care and management, education and conferences, research, reproduction, parasite control, disease, student scholarships, webinars, videos and much more!   It is a website packed full of information pertaining to anything goat.

The 2019 Goat Study is scheduled for this year.  This national study is conducted every 10 years by United States Department of Agriculture’s National Animal Health Monitoring System (NAHMS).  An extensive survey was sent out last year asking producers to rank important concerns in goat production and management.  Topics ranged from CL control to dewormer resistance and medications labelled for goats, among many, many more.  The purpose of the study is to direct federal monies into areas of research that are top concerns of goat producers.  We can all look forward to their results!!

Two men on the AGF Board of Directors have connections to Northern California.  The first member is Matt Hayes who is a livestock buyer for Superior Farms in Dixon.  He is responsible for purchasing lambs and goats for Superior.  New Board member is Kenny Elwood.  He and his wife own Radiant Reds in Bella Vista.  He is the promoter of the Boeranza show held in December.  Congratulations, Kenny!

Be sure to check out American Goat Federations educational website.  It will be worth your time!!
