NCMGA originated in the late 1990's in response to a group of goat producers who wanted to network marketing opportunities. For several years those founding fathers worked hard and played hard at building the base of what has become a major agricultural industry in Northern California. Many of the original genetics brought into California are here today in the modern Boer goat, Kiko goat and percentage and commercial goats being run.
The NCMGA has continued to honor the tradition and vision by acting as a group where commercial producers, show producers and hobbiest can all rub shoulders at meetings, events, educational seminars and sales.
As membership and board member faces have flexed a bit over the years, there are still foundational members as well newer producers all willing to play at the same table.
With the meat goat industry still so young and still with so far to go, a community organization like this that acts as a networking agent with a clearinghouse of information and is vital to the growth and sustainability of meat goats in California.
Everyone is welcome!
